As an Enterprise Architect on our team, you will be accountable for the planning, design, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of architecture solutions for large scale and complex multi-year projects required to meet major, critical business requirements of Supply Ontario and to meet the diverse business needs of clients.

The Enterprise Architect plays a crucial role in helping the organization achieve targeted business outcomes related to establishing a comprehensive IT governance and strategy transformation, implementing a new IT operating model, and positioning IT as a strategic business enabler.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including business and IT teams, to develop Supply Ontario’s Target Business Architecture in alignment with the agency’s business plan.
  • Leading the Technology Review Board (TRB) committee, ensuring project alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Owning the overall technology and architecture blueprint of Supply Ontario, from solutioning through to delivery phases.
  • Overseeing application migration strategies, ensuring seamless transitions to new platforms or environments while minimizing downtime and disruption, with a strong focus on adopting and integrating SaaS solutions.
  • Facilitating alignment between business and IT across the democratized IT landscape.
  • Providing project approvals and collaborating with project teams and sponsors on necessary governance and architectural requirements.
  • Refining and implementing IT governance frameworks and processes, ensuring compliance with quality, security, and regulatory standards.
  • Developing architecture specifications for RFPs, supporting negotiations and management of contractual agreements with third-party products and services.
  • Author architectural documentation to guide project teams in assessing and improving their processes.
  • Analyzing complex business requirements, generating technical specifications, and redesigning intricate components and applications as needed.
  • Leading the design and implementation of robust and scalable cloud architectures, ensuring optimal use of cloud services and cost-efficiency.
  • Developing and maintaining the enterprise data architecture, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility across the organization.
  • Driving the integration of various systems and applications, ensuring seamless interoperability and data flow.
  • Overseeing the implementation of microservices and API management strategies to enhance system flexibility and scalability.
  • Ensuring the adoption of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and continuous monitoring.
  • Coaching and mentoring other architects, product owners/managers, and business stakeholders to instill architectural thinking.
  • Presenting to the IT Governance Committee and Project Steering Committees, working closely with IT leadership on priority initiatives for executive leadership.
  • Tracking and developing performance metrics to support the continuous improvement of the architecture governance framework.
  • Assessing disruptive forces affecting the organization and identifying technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable business strategy.
  • Creating architecture templates, including Enterprise Architecture Statements of Work (EA SOW), EA Decision Matrix, and Enterprise Architecture Documentation.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • University degree in the field of computer science, information systems or software engineering
  • 10 or more years of demonstrated experience in architecture design with a focus on large scale enterprise applications and hosting solutions such as private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms.
  • 4 or more years of experience in technology consulting.
  • Experience in defining new architectures and driving a project from an architectural standpoint.
  • Expert skills in designing Enterprise Architecture changes and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives that affect IT, business, policies, processes and people.
  • Proven skills in architecting and supervising the transformation journey to achieve expected impacts/results.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Agile including thorough grasp of the impacts Agile Framework has on Enterprise Architecture.
  • Expert understanding and experience of Cloud, PaaS and SaaS based architecture with ability to adopt and relate new technologies to the set of problems.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of various Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., Zachman, TOGAF) and ability to develop hybrid applications of methodologies to meet the organization’s needs.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of complex technology ecosystems (applications, middleware, data, infrastructure, network, web, etc.)
  • Skilled in business process modeling, data modeling, information resource management, business analysis, design and process re-engineering.
  • Strong written and oral communication as well as presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Broad knowledge of hardware, system software, middleware and programming languages
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.
  • Understanding of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools, related graphical models, and frameworks.
  • Insight into information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks.
  • Understanding of various operating models such as project-centric and product-centric and also different types of agile principles, methodologies and frameworks, especially those designed to be scaled at the enterprise level.
  • Effective leadership skills with exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Strong consulting analytical, planning and organizational skills.
