Senior Risk Analyst

As a Senior Risk Analyst on our team, you will be accountable for supporting the implementation of Supply Ontario’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) mandate through the development of associated policies, programs, and processes that drive effective risk management across the organization.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance/continuous improvement of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) policies, programs, processes, and tools, as well as the development of annual work plans and strategies to communicate changes and attain approval by the Board.
  • Leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive Risk Appetite Framework and methodologies that aligns with SO’s business model and regulatory environment.
  • Providing advice and support to executive leadership, managers and staff on the implementation of tools/ resources to ensure alignment and effectiveness of risk processes.
  • Developing /maintaining staff resources such as on-line tools and procedures/processes/requirements relating to internal financial policies (e.g., travel expenses, credit card program, etc.) and ensuring resources reflect current policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Developing and proposing new performance measurement policies, procedures, and systems, and/or modifications or enhancements to maximize program delivery.
  • Contributing to the establishment, effective support and sustainability of the risk management governance and oversight structures and approach through partnerships with various senior stakeholders.
  • Influencing senior executives to support development and sustainability of customized risk management strategies aligned with the overarching risk management strategy. Provides strategic advice for the establishment, implementation, delivery, and sustainability of risk management approaches that are aligned with the vision and framework.
  • Supporting various risk sub-committees to ensure alignment and effectiveness of risk processes.
  • Leading the development and execution of stakeholder engagement and communications plans to gain support and input to the risk management policy and program design and associated artifacts. Leads the change management, education and rollout of the policy and program design.
  • Mentoring and coaching staff in the analysis and understanding of ERM policies, programs, and processes.
  • Planning and leading discussions with senior executives to ensure alignment and effectiveness of risk processes.
  • Maintaining cooperative efforts in the delivery of an effective and efficient financial administration function and provides advice and expertise to staff at all levels in the interpretation, analysis, and easy access to financial information.
  • Drafting internal communication material relating to changes to internal financial policies and processes.
  • Acting as key liaison with senior internal, Ministry and 3rd party staff in managing risk reporting obligations.
  • Supporting Supply Ontario’s customer service standards, enabling client success and business/continuous improvement activities.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • University degree preferably in Accounting, Business or Finance.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive financial and risk management experience in a government or broader public sector environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Risk management, performance management and management reporting theories, principles, and best practices as well as knowledge of the government approvals and decision-making processes.
  • Risk assessment and management to provide leadership to the establishment, implementation, delivery, and sustainability of a risk management mandate across the organization
  • Government policy development and program delivery processes, multi-year fiscal planning, strategic business planning processes, and internal and external reporting requirements to provide expertise, options and recommendations pertaining to risk management.
  • Consultation and communication skills to initiate and manage working relationships with colleagues throughout the organization.
  • Project management skills and capacity to work in a self-directed manner and to collaborate with others in a team setting.
  • Proven communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem recognition and resolution, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)

This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement; at the time of posting, this position would require in-office presence 3 days per week, based on current operational requirements.
