Spécialiste principal(e) en ingénierie des données (x2)

As the Senior Data Engineering Specialist, you will be accountable for leading and providing data engineering expertise to analytics and modeling through the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, the design and development of data solutions, and performing data management and optimization to support Supply Ontario’s current and future business needs.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting work on the full life cycle of data engineering including analysis, solution design, data pipeline engineering, testing, deployment, scheduling, and production support.
  • Identifying and solving significant technical problems and architecture deficiencies to include design, security, and performance.
  • Developing audits for data quality and monitoring server performance.
  • Collaborating with the data science team to design, build, and scale high-value datasets that enable analytics, modeling, and experimentation.
  • Providing project and technical leadership through all phases of complex data engineering projects.
  • Contributing data engineering expertise to the development of data quality frameworks and data development tools and standards.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

Technical Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms, operating systems, architectures, building and operating data pipelines, and data wrangling procedures using Python/Scala/R/Java/SQL, and life cycle and processes for data engineering.
  • In depth knowledge of Data Modeling for transforming business requirements and data sources into data models that meet the needs and expectations of the data users.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructures, infrastructure automation tools and processes, and data engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Strong programming ability in SQL and Python/Scala and other languages.
  • Strong analytic skills to work with unstructured datasets and to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiar with Agile Methodologies, ideally having worked in an Agile team setting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).

Data Management and Problem-Solving

  • Ability to think and work creatively to develop innovative data solutions in a collaborative multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Ability to manipulate, process, and extract value from large, disconnected datasets.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Project Management

  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to manage work to meet deadlines and manage multiple competing priorities effectively.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop technical documentation and explain technical and complex details to non-technical staff.

Supply Ontario offers a competitive compensation package including benefits and defined benefit pension plan.

The selected candidate will be required to reside and work in Ontario and be legally eligible to work in Canada.

This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement; at the time of posting, this position would require in-office presence 3 days per week, based on current operational requirements.
