As the Manager, Operational Communication & Vendor Outreach, you will manage the operational communications and ensure seamless access to information for Supply Ontario clients and vendors in areas related to how to do business with the provincial government as well as information about procurement related initiatives, plans, strategies, and programs in the public sector. You will also support the creation of a more streamlined approach to accessing information and enhancing the vendor experience.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the team responsible for the development and implementation of operational communication in support of supply chain operations for OPS and BPS clients and stakeholders, and outreach for potential vendors looking to participate in public sector procurement.
- Lead the team, providing strategic advice in the areas of communications, website management, and vendor engagement and outreach. Motivate and develop staff to effectively support objectives and priorities.
- Develop the work plans and determines priorities to ensure unit goals and objectives are met within established deadlines and support organizational priorities.
- Develop and implement quality standards, administrative systems and processes to ensure timely response to inquiries, issues and problems raised through communication channels.
- Manage operational communications for OPS/BPS and vendor communities through various channels.
- Collaborate with internal SO teams to ensure comprehensive training content is available for vendors.
- Conduct outreach to vendor communities to facilitate awareness on how to do business with the government.
- Seek opportunities to profile Supply Ontario and provide information to the vendor community through events, conferences, industry associations etc.
- Manage the unit and its staff to support an environment and culture of service excellence. Accountable for hiring, orienting, and training of staff, determining performance standards and conducting performance reviews etc.
- Champion and drive strategic thinking and a collaborative culture within the unit and work with others to achieve this across the organization.
- Promote and support the implementation of continuous improvement throughout the Operational Communications and Vendor Outreach team.
- Develop and manage relationships and consultation with relevant stakeholders.
- Support the creation of new programs, services or initiatives to support vendor education and engagement.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Education or experience in communications, stakeholder engagement or related field.
- 6-8 years’ experience in stakeholder/vendor outreach and developing, implementing, and managing diverse internal/external communications: plans, programs, policies, and support in the areas of, stakeholder engagement, issues management, and reputation risk management.
- Experience in building, managing, and coaching high performing diverse and inclusive teams.
- Background in adult education is an asset.
- Leadership and teambuilding skills to establish, build and coach a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to develop and implement new programs and initiatives.
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence, resolve conflicts and build effective linkages and alliances and to work cooperatively and productively with senior executives, other staff levels and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of government directions, sensitivities and relationships; political acuity and ability to work with ambiguities.
- Strong attention to details and technicalities; excellent organizational skills; good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
- Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to help clarify issues and to generate and implement creative solutions to complex issues.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement; at the time of posting, this position would require in-office presence 3 days per week, based on current operational requirements.
