Supply Ontario is seeking a highly motivated Chief of Staff that will be accountable for partnering with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the overall day-to-day operations of the organization, working closely with the executive leadership team to ensure the fulfillment of the agency’s mandate and priorities, including managing the Office of the CEO.
Reporting to the CEO, you will serve as a trusted advisor, providing strategic advice and tactical support to implement ideas and proactively address pressing business issues. You will direct strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution, with a high-level of leadership and accountability in the management of the CEO’s office.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the planning, prioritization, development, and execution of corporate strategies and frameworks to support the CEO in achieving strategic goals.
- Overseeing CEO-identified initiatives by monitoring progress towards meeting goals and achieving milestones, analyzing data, ensuring follow-through on the part of key players, coordinating cross agency teams and sustaining momentum needed to drive these initiatives.
- Triaging and prioritizing issues, determining those that require the CEO’s attention while collaborating with key staff to address others at the appropriate level and ensure the most effective course of action.
- Establishing internal protocols and standards for briefing the CEO and Executive team on current and emerging issues.
- Supporting the management of the CEO’s executive leadership table and establishing internal governance and processes for decision-making.
- Leading and communicating with executives in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation as well as providing strategic leadership across the agency to guide and manage the initiatives of the Office of the CEO.
- Reviewing and refining speaking notes and materials prepared for the CEO.
- Overseeing daily operations through collaboration with senior management and department leaders, with a focus on relationship management, driving innovation, and building partnerships with colleagues.
- Serving as the focal point of contact between the CEO and Executive leadership team.
- Fostering a culture of service excellence, diversity, and collaboration, encouraging employees to work together towards achieving results while promoting personal and team accountability to contribute to a healthy, rewarding, and productive work environment.
- Championing and leading critical change and a new collaborative, forward thinking culture within the Office of the CEO and across Supply Ontario.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Political Science, Public Administration, or Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6-8 years of senior-level experience within an organization, with a proven track record of progressive responsibility and demonstrated success in leading projects and programs effectively.
- Experience within the political/public service.
- Knowledge of the protocols and practices of an executive office within a public and private sector environment.
- In-depth understanding of applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to the delivery of administrative services.
- Strong political acumen and understanding of Ontario’s political system, Government of Ontario mandates and related policies, and government structure.
- Knowledge of Government of Ontario decision making processes, standards, systems, and protocols.
- Strong knowledge of government and agency strategic and operational business planning goals and processes, including reporting and evaluation.
- Leadership skills needed for planning and leading meetings.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop innovative, practical solutions that drive results in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
- Political acuity to pro-actively identify issues for executive discussion and stakeholder consultation.
- Expert conflict resolution skills to foster open communication and facilitate collaborative solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for the transfer of information to inform and influence executives and senior officials.

This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement; at the time of posting, this position would require in-office presence 3 days per week, based on current operational requirements.
